Biography

East German rower Cornelia Klier won the coxless pairs gold medal at the 1980 Moskva Olympics with Ute Steindorf. Both were substitutes at the 1976 Montréal Games, but did not compete. In 1977, the duo were part of the eights crew at the World Championships, and in the coxless pairs 1978 and 1979.

In 1979, Cornelia married swimming coach Hartmut Klier. She was a trained physiotherapist and opened her own practice in Berlin after German re-unification.
