Gabi Lohs was a member of the gold medal winning East German coxed fours at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. This was the first female rowing gold for East Germany. Under her married name Gabi Kühn, she then added another gold at the 1980 Moskva Olympics, with the coxed eights.
Lohs burst into the scene in 1972, winning the youth national title with the quadruple sculls and regaining it in 1975. She then moved to the coxed fours, before winning the 1977 World Championships with the coxed eights, adding a silver medal the following year. Nationally, she also won the East German title in 1977 with the eights. Gabi Kühn later studied civil engineering.
