Rowing cox Sylvia Rose won the gold medal with the East German coxed fours at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. At World Championships, she won two silver medals with the coxed fours, in 1986 and 1987. In 1980, 1982, 1986-88 Rose won five national titles. She later studied medicine.
