Bianka Schwede was a member of the gold medal winning East German coxed fours at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. This was the first female rowing gold for East Germany. She won four East German national titles with the coxed eights from 1973-75 and 1977. In 1974 and 1975 she also won the World Championships with the eights. Schwede later became a secretary.
