Hans-Joachim Borzym was an East German rower who was a member of the coxed eights crew winning the bronze medal at the 1972 München Olympics. The boat lost the silver medal by only 6/100 seconds against the US.
Borzym retired in 1976 and married teammate Petra Grabowski. Both then turned to coaching with the national team of former GDR. After re-unification, they opened a sporting goods shop in Brandenburg on Havel, and partly moved to China to coach rowers in 2006 and from 2010-13.
