Rower Steffen Zühlke was a member of the East German quadruple sculls that won the bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The crew also won the national title that same year, and Zühlke won it again in 1990. In 1982, he won gold at the Youth World Championships. He studied electrotechnology and precision device technology, and later information technology.
