Boetzelen, for some time the Berlin district sports manager of the Nazi organization Kraft durch Freude (German for Strength through Joy), publicly glorified the “heroic struggle” for Stalingrad on 2 February 1943 in the official sports paper Reichssportblatt. After World War II, Boetzelen settled in the USA.
