Cox Lutz, brother of Uwe Benter, finished sixth and last in the A-final of the coxed pairs at the 1968 Mexico Olympics together with Bernhard Hiesinger and Rolf Hartung. The same year the boat from RC Hassia Hanau won the West German national title. With non-Olympian cox Rolf Ebeling, Hartung and Hiesinger won the bronze medal at the 1967 West German nationals. Hiesinger added a silver in 1970, and a bronze in 1971.
