Rower Klaus Meyer was a member of the West German coxless fours at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. They finished sixth and last in the final. Meyer was replaced by Klaus Roloff after the heats, because Meyer fell ill. In 1976-77 and 1979, Meyer won West German nationals in the coxed pairs. In 1977, 1979-80 he also won the coxed eights title, and in 1977, the coxed fours.
