West German rower Michael Reinartz, brother of Anton and Stefan Reinartz, finished fifth, and last, in the final with the coxed eights at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games. With his club Kölner Ruderverein von 1877 he won the German title in 1952. In 1953 Michael Reinartz moved to the coxed fours and won the German title.
