Joachim Spremberg won a gold medal at Los Angeles in the coxed fours, representing the Berlin Rowing Club. He was also German Champion in 1931 and 1933 in coxed fours. His first medal at the German Championship came in 1930 with a second in coxed fours. He also won three third places in the eights in 1931, 1933 and 1934. His father Richard had also been a successful rower.
