Antonio Amato was an Italian rower who represented Marina Militare. Amato was one of the rowers who competed for Italy in the eight at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. The Italian crew finished in last place in their heat but fared better in the repêchage, finishing in second place behind the eventual gold medallists the United States. Italy then finished in last place in their semi-final heat, however, and were eliminated from the competition.
