Mario Balleri (“Ballero”) was a member of the Scarronzoni, the rowers of the Unione Canottieri Livornesi, winning the 1929 European Championship in the eights and placing second at the 1930-31 and 1933 European Championships. He was also 1929-33 and 1935 Italian Champion with the eights.
