Croatian-born Bruno Sorich was a member of the Italian eights that won the bronze medal at the 1924 Olympics in Paris. Prior to the Olympics, the squad had won a silver medal at the 1922 European Championships in Barcelona, and the following year, won gold on “home” water at Como. Sorich lost his life during World War II, when he was killed in action in the Dalmatia region of Croatia. He was awarded the military valor silver medal.
