Olaf Dahll rowed with the Norske Studenters Roklubb team in the coxed four at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm. After advancing by forfeit in the first round, they lost to the eventual silver medallists from the Thames Rowing Club. Dahll was chairman of the Studenters Roklubb from 1916-17 and chairman of the Norwegian Fencing Federation from 1929-34.
Dahll attended law school from 1907-13. After graduating, he worked for the European administration of Eastern Anatolia in Van until the outbreak of World War I. After returning to Norway he worked briefly as a lawyer in Torridal near Kristiansand and as a secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1916-20 he worked as a lawyer in a law firm in Kristiania (now Oslo). After one year as a lawyer at the Supreme Court, he went to London where he studied English, and maritime and commercial law with a shipbroking firm.
On his return, Dahll held positions such as secretary of the Norwegian Shipbrokers’ Association and board member of the Holmenkoll railway. In 1921 he returned to the former law office and became a partner. The partnership was eventually dissolved in 1932.
Dahll also served as an unpaid officer from 1908 and joined a bicycle riders’ company in 1918. Later he was awarded the King’s Medal of Merit. In 1917, he married Ho Agnete Cold, the daughter of the future Danish Foreign Minister Christian Magdalus Thestrup Cold.
