Sebastian Tamm was the son of Hugo Petrus Percival Tamm, a landowner and member of the Swedish parliament, the Riksdag, where he was the leader of the Moderates. Sebastian worked as an engineer and manager and was appointed Knight of the Order of Vasa in 1922. Later, he travelled around the world and eventually settled in Kenya in 1929 and became a farmer near the town of Ruiru outside of Nairobi. During this time Tamm was commander of the local Home Guard district. He moved to Väsby Gård in Julita in 1944.
