Susan Broome attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1983 with a degree in psychology. In 1986 she won US master’s titles in pairs without, fours with, and eights. Broome competed at the 1985 World Championships, winning a silver medal in the pair, and rowed in the eight at the 1987 Worlds, adding another silver medal. Broome was an alternate to the 1984 Olympic team.
