Gordon Adam attended the University of Washington where he rowed crew all four years. He rowed on the freshman eights in 1935, which won the Pacific Coast and National Championships. In 1936 and 1937, the varsity eights took the same titles for varsity crews and, in 1936, this same crew took the gold medal at Berlin. Adam graduated in 1938, captaining the Huskie crew team in his last year. He went on to work with the Boeing Company for 38 years, working on B-17s, B-29s, the 707, and 727s.
