Charles Day was a member of the University of Washington eight which won the IRAs in both 1936 and 1937, after having finished second the previous two years. Day attended medical school and then entered the Navy when World War II started. He served the Navy as a doctor in the South Pacific, but then returned to Seattle where he practiced as a gynecologist.
