Biography

Vincent Deeney rowed for Vesper Boat Club. With Olympic partner Joe Toland, Deeney won the pair oars national title in 1948, which qualified them for the Olympics. Deeney worked as a bricklayer for John Kelly’s construction company, retiring in the 1970s. He was a member of several civic clubs in Philadephia, including the Roman Catholic High School Alumni, the Marian Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Markward Club, and the Brewerytown and Fairmount Old Timers Associations in Philadelphia, as well as Local 1 of the Bricklayers Union in Philadelphia.
