Divie Duffield rowed for the Detroit Boat Club and was considered the greatest rower from that club in the first half of the 20th century. He won the national association single sculls title in 1904, but also competed in sweep oars, winning several titles in pairs, fours, and eights. Duffield competed through 1915 and then coached rowing for 10 years.
