Ed Graves was the captain of the U.S. Naval Academy crew which won the 1920 Olympic gold medal. He graduated from the Academy in June, 1920, but remained in Annapolis to train with the eight. Graves became a career officer in the Naval Air Force, retiring in 1950 as a captain.
