Fritz Hobbs rowed in the Olympics in both 1968 and 1972, both times as a member of the eight-oared shell. He had a bit more success in 1972. Hobbs was a Harvard grad in that year, class of ‘69, and had played on the Harvard squash team, being named to the 1968 national collegiate squash team. He graduated magna cum laude in history and later became an investment banker in New York. Hobbs rowed for Harvard in 1967 when they won their fourth straight title at the Eastern Sprints and defeated Yale in their big race. He also rowed on the U.S. National eight which won the 1967 Pan-American Games gold medal and finished second at the European championships.
