Charley MclIvaine rowed for the Penn Athletic Club after graduating from Penn. He was partnered in the doubles by Paul Costello in 1928 and together they won several national championships. McIlvaine’s son, Charles, Jr., also became an excellent oarsman, winning a gold medal in the eights at the 1955 Pan-American Games.
