Harry Sharkey rowed the coxless pair at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, sitting in the bow ahead of George Dahm. Sharkey represented the Penn Athletic Club. During World War II, he served in the US Navy as a machinists mate, 2nd class, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington in the South Pacific. In Philadelphia he worked as a manager at Scott Paper for 38 years, retiring in 1979.
