Biography

Alan Shealy rowed at Harvard where he was the stroke of the crew that won the IRAs (Intercollegiate Rowing Association) in 1973-75. He also rowed on US gold medal winning eights at the 1974 World Championship and the 1975 Pan American Games. The US eight that he stroked at the 1975 World placed fifth. Shealy attended Oxford University after Harvard, obtaining an MA with honors in politics and economics. He then returned to the US boat in 1979, then in the quad sculls, winning a bronze medal at the 1979 Pan Ams and placing fifth at the World Championships.He would also have competed at the 1980 Games had the USA not boycotted.

In 1982 Shealy joined Citicorp in New York where he managed the US dollar derivatives desk until 1990. In 1990 he joined the Union Bank Suisse (UBS) in New York, managing the Foreign Exchange Department. Shealy then formed his own investment banking firm, North Lake Capital Advisors, in 1993. He eventually settled in Boise, Idaho where he , served as a city council member beginning for 9 years beginning in 1994.
