Biography

Slobodan Novičić was a member of the eights crew that represented Yugoslavia at the 1948 London Olympics, one of six members of the Beograd-based Crvena zvezda (Red Star) rowing club on the squad. There, the Yugoslavians were eventually eliminated in the round one repêchage after finishing second in their preliminary heat behind the Americans, who would go on to win the gold medal.

Novičić was an economist by profession and one of the founders of Centroprom a.d. in Beograd, a wholesale and retail trading company. Novičić was also the manager of the first supermarket to open in Beograd in 1958, located at Cvetni trg.
