Robert Hutcheson was Canadian trap shooting champion and led the country’s trap team at the 1912 Olympics. In 1910, he served as president of the Montréal Gun Club. In addition to shooting, he was an active member and later president of the Caledonia Curling Club, and a lifelong member of the Montréal Amateur Athletic Association.
Born in Montréal, Hutcheson lived in the city all his life. After graduating from Bishop’s College in Sherbrooke, and McGill University, he started a notary’s office in 1896. In 1936, he founded the partnership of Hutcheson, Bourke and Stevenson. Hutcheson died in hospital after being struck by an automobile while leaving the funeral service of a friend. He had one son and two daughters.
