Poul Gerlow was a civil engineer and worked for the Copenhagen Electric Works Engineering Office. From 1912 until his divorce in 1937, he was married to Emmy from the noble Haxthausen family. Gerlow competed in the 1912 and 1920 Olympics but his greatest achievements came later in the 1920s. He won silver at the 1929 European Championships in the small-bore rifle, standing, 50 meters team event, having previously won the Danish rifle shooting championship in 1924 and 1926. From 1908 until the 1920s, Gerlow was editor of the magazine of the Danish Shooting Federation and for some time was also the Federation’s vice president.
