Biography

George Neal stared working on his father’s Norfolk farm from a very young age, before spending two years on an officer’s training course at Framlingham College, Suffolk. He then served with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force between 1914-18. Neal married his first wife Olive in 1931 and they ran the Anchor Inn on the River Bure in the Norfolk Broads at Coltishall. Olive died in 1943 and he continued running the pub with his second wife Ethel until 1951.

Little is known about the shooting carer of Neal and it would appear that his appearance in the Great Britain trap team at the Paris Olympics was the highlight. Britain finished eighth of 12, but Neal and William Grosvenor were the two non-soring members of the British team of six.
