West German pistol sports shooter Gerhard Beyer participated in two Olympic Games: 1976 at Montréal, and 1984 at Los Angeles. Due to the boycott of the 1980 Moskva Games he was not able to participate there. At Montréal he finished 24th in the 50 metres free pistol event, and in 1980 was placed 23rd. By profession, Beyer was a police director.
