Erich Masurat from Polizeisportverein Krefeld was a Russian-born sports shooter who finished fifth in rapid-fire pistol at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics while competing for West Germany. In the final ranking he finished between East Germans Christian Düring and Gerhard Dommrich, just one point behind and ahead of them, respectively. Masurat was a policeman by profession and won two West German championships.
