Will Henderson was born in Ames, Iowa to an American father and Swiss-born mother. Growing up in Fort Collins, Colorado, Henderson served in the United States Army, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University in 1952. In 1955, he earned a master’s degree in plant pathology from the University of California, Davis, then his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Moving to the United States Virgin Islands, Henderson worked as a dentist in Red Hook, St. Thomas, and served as the Executive Secretary of the Virgin Islands Dental Association in the 1980s.
In 1984, Henderson was a member of the Virgin Islands’ sports shooting delegation to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, competing in the free pistol, 50 metres event and placing 44th in a field of 56 competitors. He was also a sports shooting delegate for the USVI to the 1988 Seoul and 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Henderson retired in the 2000s and continued to reside in the United States Virgin Islands. He was also an avid birdwatcher and member of the Audubon Society.
