Italian trap shooter Daniele Cioni won multiple medals at the World Shooting Championships, the European Shooting Championships, and the Mediterranean Games. Cioni won his first gold medal at the World Championships in 1982 when he and his compatriots Silvano Basagni, Angelo Alberto Giani, and Luciano Giovannetti were victorious in the team trap. He won three more golds at the World Championships in the team trap (1985, 1989, 1990), along with three silver and three bronze medals. Cioni had similar success at the European Championships with a team gold and three individual gold medals.
Cioni won his first medal at the Mediterranean Games with a silver in the trap in 1979. He would have to wait 12 years to win his second and final medal at the Games, with him winning gold in 1991. He competed at three consecutive Olympics; 1984 Los Angeles, 1988 Seoul, and 1992 Barcelona, but only managed a best performance of 14th place at the 1992 Games. Cioni was awarded with the Italian Olympic Association Gold Medal (CONI) and later became the shooting coach of the Kuwaiti national team.
