Norwegian shooter Johannes “Johs” Espelund was a forwarding agent in a private wine company, until the alcohol trade was monopolized in 1925, ending his professional career. With his wife Ragnhild he had one son and two daughters. He was a freemason since 1914 and an active member of Lodge 2 Eidsvold. In 1946, he introduced his son Arne and his two sons-in-law to the lodge. Arne later was elected Grand Sire.
In 1912, Espelund competed only in the individual military rifle, 300 metres event, placing 81st of 91 competitors.
