Alfred Stabell was an engineer in an iron foundry in Oslo. He later opened his own workshop and eventually owned his own foundry. In 1892, he married Henriette Margrethe Cappelen, but the marriage remained childless. At the 1912 Olympics, he competed only in one military rifle event.
