In 1987 Portuguese sports shooter Hélder Cavaco was part of the trio that won gold in the team trap event at the World Shooting Championships in Valencia. One year later Cavaco competed in the individual trap event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where he tied for 37th place with two other competitors. Since the Games, he has been honoured at several sports galas held in the city of Loulé, where he is a member of the local sports club.
