Biography

Grigory Shesterikov came from the hereditary nobility of the Volyn province, now in Ukraine, and was educated in the Polotsk Cadet Corps. He joined the Russian Army in 1895 with him graduating two years later from the Pavlovsk Military School. Shesterikov served in the Life Guards Reserve Regiment until 1909 with him eventually promoted to the rank of a captain. He competed in the 1912 Olympic Games with the free pistol and the duelling pistol. He narrowly missed a medal as member of the fourth placed team in the free pistol shooting, just three points behind the bronze medallists from Great Britain.

Shesterikov fought in World War I and became colonel in the Life Guards 1st Rifle Regiment in 1915. He was awarded several degrees of the orders of St. Stanislaus, St. Anna and St. Vladimir. During the February Revolution he was killed in Petrograd, now St. Petersburg.
