John Beaumont competed in shooting, but also in canoeing. He attended the University of Hawai’i, and was affiliated there with the Hawai’i National Guard Gun Club and the six-man outrigger canoe paddling crew in 1940-41. Beaumont was a member of the US Air National Guard in 1956, where he worked as an armament technician and aircraft maintenance worker.
