Irving Calkins was a man of many talents. Besides his obvious ability as a pistol shooter he served the sport as president of U.S. Revolver Association. Calkins’ career, however, was as a doctor and he practiced as a surgeon in his hometown of Springfield for over 50 years. In addition, Irv Calkins spent much of his free time with his hobby, magic, and served a term as president of the American Society of Magicians.
