John Hession used an 03 Springfield Rifle, and fought at Dunkirk during World War II. When the British Army lost most of its arms on the beach at Dunkirk, he responded by loaning a rifle for British use. The rifle had a plate on it with Hession’s name, which was likely why it was returned to him after the War. It now resides at the NRA National Firearms Museum. Hessian won the 1919 Wimbledon Cup rifle competition.
