Nelson Lincoln was an Army sergeant in 1960, stationed in Flagstaff, Arizona. He attended Arizona State University. Lincoln won a gold medal in free pistol at the 1959 Pan American Games. Earlier in 1960 he won an international competition in free pistol, but he did not do as well at the Olympics, placing ninth in free pistol.
