In 1960 Red Mosely was a US Army sergeant. Earlier in 1960 he was runner-up at an international competition in rapid-fire pistol, but he struggled at the Olympics, placing 16th. Mosely competed at the 1963 Pan American Games, winning a gold medal in team rapid-fire pistol, and a silver in individual rapid-fire pistol.
