Biography
Harry Reeves shot free pistol for the United States at the 1952 Olympics. Reeves was a six-time national champion in pistol shooting. He started shooting in 1934 while serving in the US Marine Corps, winning the Navy Championship soon after he started competing. Reeves left the Marines in 1937 and joined the Detroit Police Force, but re-upped with the Marines in 1941 to serve in World War II. He left active duty in 1946 and joined the Marine Reserves, while returning to the Detroit police, retiring as a police inspector in 1964. In his honor the National Rifle Association (NRA) Police Semi-Automatic Service Pistol Match at the NRA National Police Shooting Championships receives the Harry Reeves Memorial Trophy.
