William Riedell was a native New Yorker, a member of the Manhattan Rifle and Revolver Association, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He served as a lieutenant commander in World War II and later with the Naval Reserve. He worked as an engineer with the Bureau of Standards and was buried in Arlington National Cemetary.
