Biography

Markus Opatril, brother of Stefan was an Austrian freestyle swimmer participating at the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics. He failed to advance to the A- or B-finals over 50 and 100 metres and placed 36th and 41st respectively. The Opatril brothers teamed up in the 4x100 metres freestyle relay but were also eliminated in the heats.

Markus Opatril later studied medicine and became a graduated specialist in ophthalmology and optometry with his own practice.
