Juan Francisco García was a Mexican boxer who started his in-ring career when he was 15. García won the gold medal in the featherweight at the 1971 Pan American Games with a victory over José Baptista of Venezuela. The following year he competed at the 1972 München Olympics but lost to Poland’s Ryszard Tomczyk in the first round of the tournament. In 1974 García won the International Quadrangular tournament as a lightweight in Caracas, Venezuela.
After the Olympics, García graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico with a degree in law, and would later serve as a legal director of the Mexican Olympic Committee. He was also an honorary President of the Mexican Boxing Federation. In 1999 García was inducted into their hall of fame.
