Higazi Said became active in swimming in the early 1930s, specializing in the freestyle, and first competed at the Egyptian national championships in 1933 at the junior level, representing the Ministry of Education as a schoolboy. He and several of his of fellow swimmers and divers, including Zaki Saad al-Dine, Ismael Ramzi, and Khalil Ibrahim, were suspended for various lengths of time in September 1934, for unclear reasons, but all were reinstated in time to qualify for the 1936 Berlin Olympics. There, he, Saad al-Dine, Qadri Mahmud, and Fadl Ibrahim competed in the 4x200 metres relay, where they placed 13th among 18 starting nations.
Said continued competing through 1940 and was also active as a member of the Ministry of Education’s water polo team. He then transitioned into the administrative end of the sport, eventually rising to the positions of President of the Egyptian Swimming Federation and Secretary General/Treasurer of the African Swimming Union. He remained active in various capacities into the 1990s.
