Biography

Bienna Pélégry was a French competitive swimmer who represented CN Marseille. Pélégry specialised in freestyle events and won silver in the 100 metres at the 1922 Women’s Olympiad in Monaco, as well as silver at the French championships in the same year. She swam in the 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay at the 1924 Paris and 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, with the French team finishing fifth each time. In 1925 Pélégry broke the French record in the 800 metres freestyle when she swam 14:55.6. Her brother Salvator also swam at the 1924 Paris Olympics. Pélégry married fellow swimmer Gaston Boiteux in 1928, with their son Jean Boiteux becoming one of the best swimmers in the world during the 1950s.
