The diving career of Cecily O’Bryen was of little significance leading up to the 1924 Paris Olympics. She had won nothing of note and was better known for taking part in diving exhibitions. However, she turned in a strong performance in the springboard event at the Olympic trials at Blackpool, when she finished second to Amelia Hudson. Sadly that promise did not materialise in Paris, and she finished seventh out of eight in her pool, and failed to make the final.
